We have expanded Avon and Somerset’s Rural Crime Unit by 50%, recruited more police officers for our streets, and launched road safety campaigns near our schools and growing neighbourhoods.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary has seen 3,089 new police officers recruited since December 2021, up from 2,963 a year before. This has helped our community to tackle Anti-Social Behaviour, Trespassing and Speeding in our local communities. At an increase of 4.3%, this was greater than the average rise of 3.5% in officer numbers across England and Wales.
I have held regular surgeries with the Police and Crime Commissioner in our rural villages, for residents to come and discuss local neighbourhood concerns.
