Luke Hall MP has called on First Bus to re-route services through Frampton Cotterell, to improve the village’s public transport network.
The local MP has formally written to First Bus asking for local services to be fully redirected along key roads including Beesmoor Road, Heather Avenue and Park Lane.
Whilst the Y6 has been partially re-routed, with one service a day serving the Heather Avenue and St Saviours neighbourhoods, there are calls for the service to be entirely re-routed to serve this side of Frampton and Coalpit Heath, throughout the whole day.
Luke Hall has made it clear to First Bus that having services along these roads will enable more residents to have quicker and easier access to buses.
Furthermore, with the current closure of theA432 bridge over the M4 motorway, parts of Coalpit Heath and Frampton Cotterell continue to have interrupted access to public transport, which means those with mobility concerns, and local children travelling to nearby schools, are finding it difficult to access public transport at all.
Ahead of the next timetable review in April, MP Luke Hall has insisted that at least one service includes Heather Avenue, St Saviours Church, and the Sunnyside and Ryecroft Road bus stops on Park Lane.
Luke said: “I am calling on First Bus to expand these changes to the Y6, for the long-term, and ensure everyone in the community has easy and reliable access to local bus services.”
