Groundwork is due to begin to install half hourly trains services between Bristol, Yate and Gloucester.
In order for the half hourly trains to be delivered, the Bristol East Junction at Bristol Meads Station is being replaced with the junction being upgraded over an eight-week period from Saturday 10 July to Friday 3 September, with the first phase running through to Friday 6 August.
Updated journey patterns for the first five weeks have been entered into online journey planners and GWR are asking customers to check their journey before travel. This can be done on their dedicated webpages www.GWR.com/Bristol<http://www.GWR.com/Bristol> or www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk/bristol<http://www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk/bristol> or through any online journey planner.
The new service will be a welcome addition for local commuters who live in Gloucester and Yate, who will be able to get a train every half hour to Bristol.
Luke welcomed the latest progress and said "Securing these half hourly services between Yate and Bristol is a key part of my campaign to Get South Gloucestershire Moving and enhance public transport for commuters living in Yate, Sodbury, and our surrounding villages."
"We are on track to deliver these more frequent services at the turn of the year, which will help to relieve congestion on our roads and improve that vital access into the City Centre"
