Castlefell School, part of Witherslack Group, the UK's leading education provider for children with special educational needs (SEN), officially opened its doors on Friday 3 May 2024, with a visit from Luke Hall MP for Thornbury and Yate.
During the tour, Mr Hall had the opportunity to meet the school’s Multi-Disciplinary Team and participate in short interactive experiments alongside students. This allowed him to gain a first-hand understanding of the school’s specific curriculum and its approach to fostering a positive and bespoke learning experience.
Following the tour, Mr Hall was introduced to a group of Castlefell students who had the opportunity to ask him questions about local matters important to them. The session focused on key issues such as priorities for the local area, desired improvements, and environmental measures.
The event marked a significant moment for Castlefell School and provided a valuable opportunity for Mr Hall to connect with the school community and gain insights into the priorities of young people in his constituency.
Wendy Yeo, Headteacher at Castlefell School said: ‘We’re really grateful for Luke Hall’s support and it was wonderful to have him visit Castlefell School to meet our pupils and supportive staff team. The young people loved finding out more about life as an MP and it was a great way for us to bring our curriculum to life, igniting curiosity and enjoyment, which is at the heart of learning here.’
Luke Hall MP said, "I was absolutely delighted to visit and officially mark the opening of Castlefell School in my role as the local MP. It was a pleasure to meet the staff and students at the school, and to see first-hand the amazing and tailored support and education being offered."
