Local residents living in Yate and Sodbury have raised concerns regarding drivers disobeying the traffic lights at the pelican crossing on Station Road, near Yate Shopping Centre.
Luke swiftly contacted our local police team, who recommended to South Gloucestershire Council that maintenance work be carried out to improve the visibility of the crossing to upcoming drivers, and to improve the flow of traffic at this location.
This follows recent action from the local MP at another nearby crossing in Yate, in a bid to improve pedestrian safety. Luke helped report to the Council that the audible warning on the pedestrian crossing by Lidl was not working, making it difficult for blind or partially sighted residents to access the Shopping Centre safely. Following the MP's intervention, the Council duly confirmed that urgent action would be taken to repair the sound at the crossing.
