The move by the council includes the trial of an innovative systems called Open Plus which will allow local people to use a swipe card to access library facilities during the new, improved, and extended opening hours across Thornbury, Yate and Chipping Sodbury libraries.
The changes are set to make a saving £500,000 for the council demonstrating better value for money with an improve service.
Local MP Luke Hall said; “I am delighted to hear that the hard work carried out by Cllr David Chubb in Thornbury and Cllr Rob Creer in Chipping Sodbury has really paid off, resulting in an improved service but with a huge saving to local taxpayers. It’s a good demonstration of how the Conservative Group is putting forward innovative ideas whilst reducing costs for residents.”
Chipping Sodbury Councillor (Con) Rob Creer added; “In setting up and enabling the Friends of Chipping Sodbury Library, I feel we have done a great job in ensuring our library remains open on a sustainable basis. It really does show how working with our communities. we can get a good deal for residents”
