Luke recently visited Court Walk, a new affordable housing development in Kennedy Way, Yate, and met with Sovereign Housing Association’s CEO, Mark Washer at the former magistrates’ court to take a tour of the site that will see 45 stylish new homes at this 100% social rent development.
Sovereign acquired the site from Homes England, on the open market. Sovereign used the site to build 100% social rent homes in an area where the housing need is high, investing around £8m in this community, supported by £2.6m of Homes England funding. Working with developers E. G. Carter the 45 new homes will be one, two and three-bedroom apartments and houses all available for social rent and nestled in the heart of Yate, South Gloucestershire.
Mr Hall said: “It was a pleasure to see this site being put to such good used, providing new homes for social housing tenants. Taking brownfield sites like this and redeveloping them to provide affordable homes helps ease demand on local housing, while ensuring that we protect the character of this part of South Gloucestershire”
“I was interested to hear as well about Sovereign’s plans to regenerate their housing stock as well as to build new homes, and to hear that they are looking at the role housing can play in supporting our high streets here and across the South of England.”
