Local MP, Luke Hall, yesterday attended the opening of the new Winterbourne International Academy building in Winterbourne. The new building was opened by HRH The Princess Royal who was escorted through the new building and facilities by students from the Pegasus Guild. Other notable attendees included The High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, the Bishop of Bristol and the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire.
Students at the school put on a wonderful display showcasing their sporting abilities with bold displays of cheerleading, gymnastics and martial arts. Her Royal Highness unveiled a plaque to officially open the Academy and signed the visitor’s book before departing.
Speaking at the ceremony, Luke said: “The new building is an amazing development and it’s great to have such a facility in our region investing in the future of the next generation, and it’s an honour having HRH The Princess Royal open the ceremony.”
