Local Thornbury and Yate MP Luke Hall joined the Thornbury Litter busters this weekend as the local group of volunteers took part in a South Gloucestershire wide event called the ‘Big Spring Clean’.
The day that begun at 9.30am involved volunteers meeting up at the Old Social Services Car Park on Gloucester Road before setting off in small groups to ‘Litter Bust’ swathes of Thornbury.
The mornings ‘litter busting’ saw over twenty volunteers don hi-vis vests, a rubbish bag and a litter picker before heading out on routes across the town. The equipment was provided to anyone that turned up.
Local MP Luke who took on the High Street route praised the Litter busters for their relentless efforts in keeping Thornbury as litter free as possible;
“I’d like to thank the Litter Busters for inviting me to join them last weekend, I was delighted to be able to come and support the group as I can now see first-hand what a difference their monthly ‘litter busts’ make to Thornbury. They do an excellent job for our community and have fun doing it. This is definitely something that I would like to see replicated in our towns and villages across our area”
