MP’s community fund grant to Thornbury Area Junior Music Centre marks the 6th group helped so far.
Local MP Luke Hall’s community fund has celebrated helping its 6th group since its creation after the latest round of funding provided local music charity, Thornbury Area Youth Music (TAYM), with six new violins.
TAYM, a local charitable trust, aims to enhance collective youth music making and promote excellence in music in South Gloucestershire.
Victoria Jones, Marketing Officer at the Thornbury Area Music Centre welcomed the donation saying;
“The donation of the violins to TAYM by Luke’s community fund has really helped by allowing us to provide even more local children with the opportunity of learning to play a musical instrument when they perhaps otherwise would not have the chance. I would strongly recommend any other community group or charity like ours to get in touch and apply to Luke’s community fund.”
TAYM was just one of the three groups who were awarded with a small grant from the second tranche of funding with two other local groups, Jigsaw Thornbury and Phase 5 pre-School in Yate, both receiving £350 each towards the purchase of much needed sensory toys and resources for young children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The three groups receiving grants from the second tranche now brings the total amount of groups helped to six.
Luke Hall MP who set up the fund after vowing to give up the IPSA recommended ‘MP’s Payrise’ to local community groups and Charites that improve community life in our area said;
“Once again I am delighted to be able to see my MP’s community fund being able to practically help such good local causes. I am extremely proud that there is such a wide range of groups and charities providing such an invaluable support to many, be it support groups for parents with children with SEN or the Thornbury music centre who does wonderful work in promoting youth music in South Gloucestershire. I am glad the fund has been able to help in some small way”.
