This week, Luke Hall MP welcomed a further coach-load of families from Frampton Cotterell and Coalpit Heath to the Houses of Parliament, bringing the total number of residents invited to 150.
Residents were treated to a spot of sightseeing, passing the Albert Hall and Kensington Palace, before arriving in Westminster. The day began with a tour of the Houses of Parliament, including exclusive access to the Queen’s Robing Rooms, the Royal Gallery, the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
This was followed by a Q&A with Luke, where the MP spoke about his switch from being a Manager at Lidl to the local MP for Thornbury and Yate, and his experiences as an MP so far.
Before setting off home, the residents joined Luke for photos and a catch-up on the famous riverside terrace, on what was a glorious summer’s day.
Local resident Lisa O’Hare said, “What a fabulous day out! The guided tour of the Palace of Westminster brought the history of both the Palace and our democracy to life, and the building was spectacular. Meeting Luke Hall in a committee room felt very special and gave us an insight into the day to day running of Parliament.”
The local MP said, “As ever it was a huge pleasure to welcome families from Frampton Cotterell and Coalpit Heath to the Houses of Parliament this week. The tours are continuing to grow in popularity and I am really excited about next visit which will be for residents of Yate.”
