Luke Hall’s trips to Parliament have restarted this week after a pause during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Luke welcomed residents of Chipping Sodbury to the Houses of Parliament on his 29th group tour to Westminster
The tour is part of an initiative to provide the community with the opportunity to visit the heart of the British Democracy.
The group of 50 local residents met at 06:30 on Chipping Sodbury High Street, before sharing a coach straight to Westminster. The day began with a tour of the Houses of Parliament, including exclusive access to the Queen’s Robing Rooms, the Royal Gallery, the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
After a brief stop for some food and a look around the Parliamentary Gift Shop, residents attended a Q&A session with Luke, followed by pictures in Westminster Hall.
Chipping Sodbury resident Becky Romaine said: “Very enjoyable tour! The trip through Parliament was absolutely fascinating, especially learning all the history and walking through the debating chambers and the voting lobbies. I’m so glad I went. I also enjoyed Luke’s Q&A, and was pleased to hear him take such a strong stance against the proposal to build 725 homes off St John’s Way.”
Luke Hall said “Good issues were raised, from the importance of opposing the over expansion of Chipping Sodbury, to how quickly we can roll out the soft plastic recycling scheme to every house in South Gloucestershire and how difficult it is to pass a bill through the commons. I am so pleased that my tours to parliament are up and running again and am already looking forward to the next one!”
