Luke Hall has alerted South Gloucestershire Council to Thornbury residents’ concerns regarding a lack of signage on Castle Street.
Whilst meeting people on the doorsteps throughout Thornbury, Luke has been discussing the town’s infrastructure, with many residents worried about the lack of awareness about speed limits currently in place.
Speaking on Castle Street, Mr Hall commented, “People’s feelings could not be clearer in this instance and as a local man I fully appreciate the importance of this matter. Where speed limits are already in existence, it is important the Council make this clear, and that the speed limit is enforced appropriately.”
The Conservative candidate continued, “South Gloucestershire Council have informed me that further measures are being considered, and that the Council is looking to install a second warning sign on Castle Street. It is only fair that motorists are made aware of any speed limit in place, and I would support South Gloucestershire Council with any further action they could consider taking on Castle Street.”
In addition, Luke Hall has been in touch with the local police, who have agreed that the current signage is not sufficiently clear for motorists, and has concurred that people are simply unaware of the speed limit in place.
Addressing road safety has been a primary issue for Luke Hall during his time as MP, having already worked to deliver safer roads and walkways across a number of towns and villages in South Gloucestershire.
“If elected on June 8th, I will continue to work with local councillors and our new West of England Mayor, Tim Bowles, to make sure our roads are safe whilst at the same time efficient. I would encourage anybody with concerns about road safety in their area to get in touch so I can raise this matter with the relevant authorities.”
