Local MP Luke Hall held his busiest ever surgery this week in the Swann Inn in Tockington.
The surgery went on three times longer planned as residents raised concerns about more people driving through the village since the Severn Bridge Tolls have been removed causing increased speeding through Tockington and Olveston. Additionally, there was concern voiced about the road safety for pedestrians in the village, as there is currently no pathway to the A38 for residents to catch buses.
The topic of local housing and infrastructure was also brought to Luke's attention, with residents worried about the lack of affordable housing in rural villages for first time buyers and that the flawed plans at Buckover could return in a new form.
Residents also voiced their support for Luke's Positive Plan for the area, which includes fighting against a poorly planned housing development like Buckover, and investing in our local health centres like the planned Thornbury and Frenchay Health Centre upgrades, improving our transport infrastructure, increasing funding in every school, keeping business taxes low in order to support the local economy, and ensuring that everyone has access to a good Broadband connection.
Luke Hall said:
"Tockington is a beautiful village, and residents are clear that the Council must tackle the speed of vehicles and stop the inappropriate development at Buckover for good. I will continue to raise these issues with the Council, alongside safe crossing points and an unbroken pathway to bus stops at the A38."
