Luke Hall MP recently visited the Whirlpool factory in Yate, a well-known local producer of domestic tumble dryers and prominent South Gloucestershire business.
As a local Yate resident himself, Luke enjoyed a presentation about the factory’s history and heritage and discussed the company’s vision and plans for the future.
Joined by Company Director Ian Moverley and Plant Manager Rafal Kozikowski, Luke met with the Whirlpool team and was given exclusive access to the factory to see in action the hard work which takes place every day.
The local MP said, “Living in Yate, I am very aware of just how many local residents from Yate and across South Gloucestershire work at this site, and myself have personal connections to the factory. Whirlpool is an inherently local business and I am proud of their commitment to recruiting from Yate and the local area.”
Luke added, “It was a fascinating visit and I am grateful for the unique insight I was given by the team.”
Luke spent time with the staff at Whirlpool and shared his family connection with the business, having family who worked on site when the area was hit by German bombing in the 1930’s.
The MP’s visit coincided with the launch of his 7th Jobs Fair, held nearby in Yate Parish Hall. Coincidently, Whirlpool themselves discussed upcoming employment opportunities, and revealed that they are undertaking a recruitment drive in the near future.
Luke reiterated his commitment to supporting the growth of more local jobs and tackling unemployment in South Gloucestershire, which has continued to decrease since Luke was elected MP.
