Last Monday, residents of Falfield Village visited the Houses of Parliament as part of the local MP Luke Hall's new initiative to provide all constituents with the opportunity to visit the epicentre of our democracy and one of the most iconic buildings in the country.
Luke organised a coach to leave from the Huntsman Inn, Falfield, and drive residents straight to Parliament. The guests were given a fully guided tour around Parliament by a Professional Tour Guide, and visited both the House of Lords, and the House of Commons. They were also given the opportunity to view the splendour and beauty in less publicly known places within the Westminster Palace, such as the Queen’s Robing Room, The Royal Portrait Gallery, Central Lobby, Westminster Hall and St Stephens Hall.
After the Tour, the residents of Falfield were able to visit the Gift Shop, and the Jubilee Café next to Westminster Hall. Luke Hall also obtained special permission from Black Rod to allow the guests to visit the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft in Westminster Hall and view the cupboard where the Suffragette Emily Wilding Davison locked herself in on the night of the 1911 consensus.
In a quote Luke Hall said: “Should I be re-elected on June 8th I shall make sure that I continue to run the Thornbury and Yate village Tours of Parliament. I would really encourage anyone who would be interested in attending on of these Tours to get in touch with my office to nominate your village or town."
