Luke Hall MP visited the local Morrison’s branch in Yate last week, to celebrate the relaunch of the local store, which has seen an investment of £3 million to help modernise and improve customers’ experience.
A former retail manager, Luke, who ran the Yate Lidl store before becoming our MP, was treated to a tour of the newly refurbished shop by Store Manager Tom Morris. A vast number of measures have been introduced following the recent investment, including improved lighting, a reduction in single-use plastics, and a redesigned floorplan to help those with mobility difficulties.
Luke said, “The new store looks great. The brighter lighting, improved toilets and the new children’s trollies make for a vastly improved shopping experience. Thanks to Tom and the team for all of the hard work. I know how much work goes into store refurbishments like this, and I know everyone will have been working overtime to have the store ready in time.”
Luke’s visit coincided with the recent news that supermarkets across the UK have signed a Government pledge to drive down food-waste. Major high street retailers, including Morrisons, have signed a pledge, aiming to halve food waste by 2030, whilst raising public awareness. It is the latest proactive action taken by the Government to tackle waste and enhance sustainability.
