With an ongoing focus on supporting our local economy, Luke Hall MP recently met with leading business owners and managers from South Gloucestershire.
The local MP attended a roundtable event in Thornbury to discuss the current national situation, as well as local issues closer to home. The event was the latest initiative in Luke’s Positive Plan for South Gloucestershire, to help bolster the local economy and continue to grow local jobs and employment.
In attendance were representatives from local RBS branches, Astra Security, Berkley Vale Motors, Maples Community Care, and several other businesses operating in South Gloucestershire.
Luke spoke in detail about the current national situation, before answering questions on various topics which included promoting business, climate change policy, enhancing apprenticeships and investing in South Gloucestershire’s infrastructure.
“I was delighted to attend a Business Roundtable in Thornbury last week, and have the opportunity to discuss a number of key issues facing local businesses in our area,” said Luke.
The MP continued “I want to make sure that local businesses have their voice heard, and as part of my Positive Plan for our area, will continue to back South Gloucestershire’s vibrant and diverse business community.”
Leigh Renders, Head of EU Public Affairs, said: “Along with Thornberry and Yate MP Luke Hall, NatWest relished the opportunity to bring together local firms and representatives from the bank to discuss how we can better work together so that businesses continue to thrive at a local level”.
Jonathan Grant, Director for Milburys Estate Agents in Thornbury added, that the roundtable was “a great opportunity for those across the political spectrum to share their common concerns as business owners and employers, face to face with a member of parliament. These meetings are all about engagement with others, Luke quite obviously lent an attentive ear and we all took something positive away.”
A former retail manager, Luke has committed to growing South Gloucestershire’s economy and supporting local business. As part of Luke’s Positive Plan for the area, the MP has already helped to boost employment through his Jobs Fair, promoted local produce in Westminster, and hosted business forums with many different companies and business owners.
