The Department for Health has announced that 78 NHS Trusts in England are set to receive funding for new cancer screening machines. Many hospitals and treatment centres throughout the country will be able to acquire brand new machines which will enhance patient’s care and enable an earlier diagnosis.
In South Gloucestershire, both Cossham Hospital and the Bristol Royal Infirmary will be benefiting from this funding boost, introducing upgraded and improved cancer detection technology in our local area.
Luke Hall MP, Member of Parliament for Thornbury, has welcomed the announcement, as his Positive Plan for Health in South Gloucestershire continues to gather pace.
“Making sure South Gloucetsherhrie has the best available cancer screening technology is so important for our community, and I am glad that we are continuing to see more investment for our local services” said the MP.
Luke continued, “Our Positive Plan for Health is all about improvements to existing services whilst introducing new facilities to bring care and treatment closer to local residents. I am delighted that Cossham Hospital and the BRI will be receiving these all important upgrades.”
The new machines for North Bristol NHS Trust coincides with the MP’s Positive Plan for South Gloucestershire, which has already:
- Preserved land at Frenchay for a return of new services and a rehabilitation centre of excellence
- Made headway with the redevelopment of Thornbury Health Centre, as key discussions are ongoing
- Secured upgrades to the Yate Minor Injuries Unit, including longer opening hours and improved x-ray services.
