Having teamed up with local families and expecting mothers in South Gloucestershire, Luke Hall has successfully helped to deliver free swimming for pregnant women in South Gloucestershire.
It has been confirmed that a 12 month pilot scheme has been approved by the Circadian Trust, which will see free swimming offered to pregnant women in Active Leisure Centres across the local area, including in both Thornbury and Yate.
Launched as a key component of Luke’s Positive Plan for improving health in South Gloucestershire, the campaign called for the provision of free swimming to be made available to pregnant women living in the local area, following research which demonstrated the huge benefits for healthy pregnancies.
On behalf of local parents, Luke launched a petition which garnered overwhelming support.
Former swimming teacher and mum of three Liz Brennan said, “This is amazing news for pregnant women in our community and will encourage healthy pregnancies thanks to Luke’s campaign. As a local mum, I think it is important for pregnant women to have access to vital exercise opportunities such as this.”
“We really appreciate Luke’s help and support with this important campaign, and are really pleased to hear this news.”
Luke Hall welcomed the news and said, “As a father living in Yate, it is great news that we have been able to secure free swimming for pregnant women. I am grateful to everyone who took the time to sign my petition. This is a very exciting initiative and I am grateful for the overwhelming support this campaign has received.”
The news is the latest success in Luke’s Positive Plan for Health, which has already helped to achieve extended opening hours at the Yate MIU and make considerable progress with the redevelopment of Thornbury Health Centre.
