Our Positive Plan for Broadband is determined to connect the remaining 4% of properties in South Gloucestershire which are unable to access any form of fibre broadband.
-> South Gloucestershire Conservatives have already invested £2 million in local broadband with £710,100 from central Government. I am pushing for more funding to be made available for our villages including Tytherington, Westerleigh, Hinton and Inglestone.
-> 4,377 rural properties have been connected in Elberton, Codrington and Wickwar, bringing connections up to 96%. As our local MP, I have now secured a further £900,000 for more rural business connections.
-> We have helped connect new estates in Thornbury and Yate with fibre broadband
The Positive Plan includes:
1) Continuing to push for the remaining 4% of households to be connected to high speed, fibre broadband as quickly as possible using Government grants to connect rural areas.
2) Supporting community fibre partnerships will be a priority, as will helping with the Government's broadband voucher schemes - worth £1,500 per household in order to connect the remaining 4%.
