In another boost for Luke Hall's campaign to deliver more electric vehicle charging points, the Council have now introduced further facilities at Yate Shopping Centre.
The charging points are located in the leisure centre car park off Station Road and will help make environmentally friendly driving more accessible in our community. Meanwhile, new charging sites in Coalpit Heath and Marshfield have also been given the green light, and the MP is continuing to ask residents for their feedback as to where they would prefer to have the charging points installed. Welcoming the further rollout of EV Charging Points in Yate, Luke said, "This is a key part of my Positive Plan for the Environment and these charging points will help to give residents and businesses the confidence to invest in electric vehicles, improving the air quality along our busy local roads."
This local investment in Yate's infrastructure follows the Government's recent announcement of a number of successful projects to power up the electric vehicle (EV) revolution, which have received a boost through the government’s £20 million research and development competition. Promising electric vehicle technology innovations are a step closer to becoming reality as winners of zero-emission vehicle competition are announced. The funding, awarded to 62 promising electric vehicle technology innovations, could unlock some of the biggest barriers to EV ownership by providing ground-breaking solutions to battery health and charging for both urban and rural areas.
The Government has stated that the "funding will help the UK transition towards all new cars and vans being zero emission by 2035 as we build back greener."
