Local MP Luke Hall visited St Nicholas Football Club in Yate, to hear about their work with young people in the community and to hear their plans for the future following their successful grant application from South Gloucestershire Council.
St Nicholas Football Club has 28 teams, 116 volunteers, 6 youth helpers, 29 qualified coaches and a 440 membership, with the youngest members starting at 5 years old. In total, they have over 59, 400 membership participation hours per season.
The football Club recently secured £50,000 from South Gloucestershire to fund the extension of their clubhouse and improve their changing and toilet facilities at The Ridings.
The funding is part of the £390,000 to fund sports facility upgrades and environmental projects across South Gloucestershire. This brings the total amount of investment in local public open spaces to more than £11 million.
Luke Hall MP said: “It is fantastic to see amazing community groups such as St Nicks Football Club, receive extra funding to ensure that they have top class facilities.
St Nicks FC perform exceptional work for young people in our community. I hope that this extra funding will encourage even more people to get active and stay healthy.”
