The village of Shortwood will see bus services restored after recent announcements in WECA’s April bus timetable review.
This announcement comes after action taken last year by local MP Luke Hall, who put pressure on the Combined Authority and service operators to resume services through the village.
Timetable changes last year resulted in the loss of vital bus services Shortwood. Having continued to raise the community’s concerns, in November last year Luke Hall MP met with the Managing Director of First Bus in Shortwood, ensuring the village’s concerns were addressed and presenting the community petition calling for services to be reinstated.
WECA have now confirmed that the new 525 Service, operated by Stagecoach, replacing the 47 will run through Shortwood village, giving residents access Emersons Green, Pucklechurch and Yate.
In response to the announcement, Luke Hall MP said:
“Shortwood residents have been speaking to me for some time about their concerns after losing access to bus services. In November I presented the village's strong community petition asking First Bus and WECA to acknowledge that there was clear demand for bus services in Shortwood.”
The new 525 service operated by stagecoach will run hourly Monday to Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.
