A decision on improving health services in Thornbury has come another step closer.
MP for Thornbury, Luke Hall, again called on the Department for Health in Parliament on Tuesday to lay out the timescales for a decision on a local bid to fund crucial upgrades for Thornbury's local health services.
Following his latest intervention, the MP has now taken the campaign to the next level, by securing a personal meeting with the Secretary of State for Health, Steve Barclay, to discuss how a successful bid be used to upgrade Thornbury’s health services and further push the government for a decision.
The MP’s latest question to the Secretary of State in Parliament is the latest in a long line of interventions by the MP in fighting to secure the redevelopment of Thornbury Health Centre.
Luke’s meeting with the Secretary of State will build upon recent discussions with Lord Markham, the Minister responsible for NHS capital, land and estates, including the new hospital programme, taking the campaign to the next level.
The local MP has said that he will be highlighting the growing demand in the South Gloucestershire community for greater out-patient care and health service expansion and will push the Health Secretary on the renewed timeline for any redevelopment.
Luke said: “Upgrading Thornbury Health Centre and improving health services in the town has been a key part of our Positive Plan for Health for so long. I am glad to have secured this meeting with the Health Secretary and will be pushing again to make sure our case is heard and finally get a decision from the government."
